Lawn Care
As a school is likely to have a field or multiple fields, it’s important that the grass is cut regularly to prevent it becoming too long. If grass becomes too long, it will quickly become unusable for any type of summer sporting activity like cricket or track and field athletics.
And if grass is left for too long that it starts to become overgrown, that provides its own hazards. Long grass can be known to harbour pests and parasites, including ticks, so keeping your grass at a manageable level can help reduce the risk to staff and pupils alike.
Resolving Problem Trees
On your school’s grounds there are probably several trees. Trees should be regularly monitored, and work should be carried out on them where required to ensure they remain healthy and safe to be near.
Tree inspections will help to identify any issues, with common problems including overhanging and overgrown branches requiring pruning, and complete tree removal if it’s diseased or dying. In addition to this, stump grinding can be carried out to remove problem tree stumps that could pose a safety risk to pupils and staff.
Hedge Trimming
It’s possible that you may have a few hedges in your school grounds, which may even be border hedges to mark the boundary of your school with neighbouring properties. In order to keep hedges in a manageable and tidy condition, it’s recommended to trim them in order to maintain their original shape and to stop them overhanging.
Hedge trimming is important for a number of reasons, including to keep the border lines easily marked, and to ensure that you’re not losing valuable ground space being taken up by overhanging hedges.
Vegetation Clearance
If you have an area of green space which has fallen into disuse or disrepair, then it can be easy to mark that area as unusable and out of bounds. However, with space becoming increasingly more important in schools, you can use site clearance to remove unwanted vegetation and make a space usable again.
As part of a site’s vegetation clearance, a broad range of greenery can be removed and taken away – including brambles, shrubs, ivy – to leave you a clear green space.
